Snap crackle pop.....to rich?

Post by Victorh » Fri Sep 23, 2016 6:41 am

So my new baby arrived. Her first spin to put in some fresh gas.....awesome. just the way I remember the beast in my past life.
But after 8 years I cannot recal this much snap crackle and pop on overrun? She backfires like crazy man.... could it be too rich with the open pipes?
And no I have not checked the jetting....no I do not know what air filter it has....
Will be checking that but figured first port of call was some folk in the know.ImageImage

1. jets
2. air leak in carb to head rubber

Both my current and earlier SEs popped on the over - run.
They weren't lean and had no air leaks.

The higher the revs, the more it happens/lasts.

I like it too!

Absolutely strange. After Rottweiler intake installation, SE starts to popping a lot. Removed tank and recognized, that one vacuum hose was not plugged. After that bike runs absolutely without any pop.
After one bumpy and slow trail it starts popping again! Shit. Removed tank, checked for a leaks, synchronized carbs - no difference, popping was the same. Then removed carbs and found, that on one carb float level was 3.5, on second - 4.5mm. Set both to 3.5mm and bike runs perfect again. So i didn't think, that hard popping is OK. All i know, lean fual/air mix absolutely not good for valves.
