Any issues with Powercell tank?

I'm looking for a bit more tank capacity, after doing a bit of research the Powercell option seems to come out better than Safari for comfort, weight distribution etc.

Before I commit, does anyone have any feedback about the Powercell?

Good, bad? Any issues I should know about?

I know some people report slight swelling with high ethanol fuels - anything to be concerned about?

Not yet. There are a few reports of fuels with high ethanol content causing the tanks to swell, which is putting me off.

I don't need a huge extra capacity, just a little bit more will do. I'm hoping to use my SE to do sections of the French/Spanish/Portugese TET and just want slightly longer legs for the bike. My next plan is to look at going to a single exhaust can and then fitting a Rottweiler Endurocell rear tank. A shame though, I like the twin Akras.

I have fitted a rotti 2-1 system. So freed up the room for a aux tank
We are planning to use the bike in South America so a bigger tank is still on my list.

This is an option. Fastway makes a clean rear rack you can mount it on, or you could attach it to your back (sounds odd but it works great). Then you're not looking at changing out tanks and changes associated with. I like it most because it's not "permanent." Just ask yourself how many times you DON'T need the extra fuel and largess of a big tank. It's been a good solution for me when I anticipate needing a little more drink for the machine. And I can use it on other machines. Just an option. Good luck, mate!

All plastic tanks swell. Some more than others. The stock tank is thicker than the safari and Powercell tank so it's less noticeable. Powercell sells quick disconnects for the lines and you can plug in his quick disconnect fuel drain to drain the fuel if you are removing the tank and leaving it off the bike for awhile. The tank if swollen can be drained and it goes back to its original fitment over night. The folks having reported issues usually have half a tank or more of fuel in the tank and let it sit off the bike. I did that once with mine. It was a bear to line back up, but it fit fine. Next time I drained the fuel first. Tank went back on no issue.

I'm not a fan of the safari or the Powercell tanks. I know a few guys running them and they do suffer greatly from swelling and mis-shaping. I get what you're saying about not wanting to lose dual mufflers...one viable option that is also cost effective is a 950sm tank / seat / etc...you need few nuts and bolts to install it and the radiator fill cap will be tight unless you go to the SM radiator but you'll get another 4 litre's in it and then you can carry another 4 in a rotopax. I'm at the point where I'm likely to just cave and go 2in1 for a rear left side tank as I don't want to add more mass up front.
