New headlight

Guys, my headlight cowl is falling apart. Rode it last weekend and even the light came lose flapping all over the place. Granted the bike was having a hard time in the rocks, but Im now looking for something sturdier. Im preferably looking for a dual beam and this sort of rules out the Baja type race lights, which look cool, but only have one beam. Id also like ALOT of light.

Any other ideas?

Yes, just help me think of a nice way to add bracing to the existing headlight cowling! :)

I have a wee screen bolted to the cowling, and the constant wobble of it is annoying, caused by the terribly weak and wobbly lower cowling mounting.

I fixed it really crudely by two braces from the handlebar to the top of the cowling, but it was just too crude/ugly. There must be a better way....

I'm thinking of some brackets around the forks legs, with a loop of metal bar curved between them behind the cowling, and bolt the cowling to this invisible support.

The later 990 SMs have a much better design - mainly they filled in the "gap" on the right side lower cowling mount.

Exactly what happened. I fitted a 690 duke screen and the weaving ripped everything apart.

So I figure there must be a bike/parts to fab something up - adding a bit of strength.... Will have a think once I get the SE back on the road - new see-thru safari tank going on it, and service...
