What / where stiffer front springs?

Post by bigkuri » Sat Mar 01, 2014 1:04 am

I have to face it that my SE really needs stiffer front springs. Who ate all the pies, plus I tend to ride heavy on the front anyway...

On my Adventure I got the 0.74 "maximum" spring rate, and it transformed the front end. Better everywhere in every situation...

So where and what springs for the SE? Who even stocks them??

Cheers!

Try slavens racing in the states speak to Jeff, hw knows his onions when it comes to suspension and used to be able to get custom springs made, don't think he does that any more though. Email him your weight riding style etc see what he says.

Cheers matey.

I spent a good few hours last night searching, and it seems Jez may have been right (first time for everything! :) )
Ordered from Slavens - Jeff is a very nice chap, knows all about KTM suspension. 10 days to make (USA made) and 10 to ship.

More £££....

Dude suspension I'm big into from setting up the sport bikes for years.

Did he say you have to chop the canister?

Nope, just take out old ones and drop in the new ones.

Chopping canister?! What does that do, and how even possible? I thought the canister was a sealed unit full of a big rod and tons of shims/valves?

On some higher rates springs you have to cut back the top black canister to it slides up and down the spring, there are 4 guides in a cross type pattern that you shave back to give a good slide.

Might see if I can find an old picture.

Don't worry mate, I'll be around to your place to fit them and change the fork oil, so will leave it to the master! (I'll make the tea/fetch beer)
